This week, at my request, was a run focus week. I figured since I would be traveling so much, it would be much easier to get run workouts done. Also, I wanted to keep my streak going and get my workouts done.
March 9, 2009 - BIKE
30 min. recovery ride - I headed to the clubhouse and got to do this ride on a stationary bike. I had a hard time getting the seat adjusted and I realized how much better riding on Oscar is, even on a trainer. While I was riding a man came up to me and suggested that I breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth, because my body was too stressed. Definitely odd...
March 10, 2009 - RUN
60 min. intervals - It was still dark when I went out for this run and I was a little nervous because I wasn't sure about the whole safety issue. However, once I got going, I was fine. I did have to stop at the Steak and Shake to make a deposit and a man yelled out at me "Ow ow ow...lookin good lady" in a hispanic accent. The run went well and my legs felt surprisingly good. It was also wonderful to run outside in the early morning in shorts and a tanktop.
March 11, 2009 - BIKE
45 min. ride - This ride started at 10pm at night after I got home from Florida. I was tired, but it felt good to spin my legs out after all of the walking and running.
March 12, 2009 - RUN
90 min. tempo run - This workout didn't go well. The first 30 minutes were fine, but when I started the tempo part of the workout, I was in the bathroom 3 times in 21 minutes. I wanted to keep running but didn't want to keep the runs, so I cut the workout short at 52 minutes.
March 13, 2009 - REST
This turned into an unplanned rest day because I forgot my sports bra and was in Ft. Wayne, Indiana for a conference.
March 14, 2009 - RUN
45 min. intervals - I did this workout on the trail and actually added an extra 3 minute interval and cut my cooldown 3 minutes short. I was so happy to be running in the sunshine and in shorts.
March 15, 2009 - RUN
60 min. - I ran on the trail to the silos for this workout and once again was very happy to be running outside in the sunshine in shorts and a short sleeved shirt. I actually ran a negative split, but I'm not sure how it happened.
My body held up to the extra running this week surprisingly well. I did lots of extra walking around and I will admit that my joints were definitely achy. But in spite of traveling, I was able to get another week of completed workouts in (except for the botched tempo run).

About your March 10 entry about safety, my mother always used to tell me when I was a kid not to worry about being kidnapped, because the first street lamp they got me under, they'd turn me loose.
In your case, if anyone tried to grab you, you could just outrun them!!! Way to go, friend.
