Today is the anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. I was reading an article this morning about an 86 year old survivor who is making his first trip back to the memorial. He is nervous about it. The article talked about how the events at Pearl Harbor changed his life forever.
I've been to the USS Arizona Memorial. I've shed tears there for all of the young lives lost there. I've seen the drops of oil floating on the surface. I've felt the spirit of reverence that exists at Pearl Harbor.
I'm so grateful to the men and women who willingly put their lives on the line for our freedom each and every day. I'm grateful to their families who willingly support them from afar. I'm grateful for the soldiers who've been killed defending our country. I'm grateful for the opportunity that we have to honor those men and women. Probably we should do that more often.
